Hi, I’m Gayle Schwartz, and I am an artist-designer.

My current style is drawing with colored pencils. I began with poster paint in kindergarten, watercolors in elementary school, no art class in high school as I didn’t like the teacher. Then in junior college I had art classes. The class in design was my favorite.

I don’t care to draw traditional, actual things. I like color, line, and design. I draw from my memory rather than from my sight. I want to help others to try designing abstract art.

I start with a design, add color, and then view the drawing until a form appears to my eyes.

Imagination is an important part of my abstract art. I would want others to learn use their imagination. My mission is to get everyone to enjoy and appreciate designed abstract art.

I have a life teaching credential from California where I taught and I substituted.

I asked the students in an art class to take out their pencils and they asked why. They had signed up for a “mickey mouse” course.
In a second grade class one-half of the class was to go to the art room, but no one wanted to go! Seems the art teacher thought that all students should draw the still life as the teacher saw it.

Art projects should be fun. I subbed in a second grade class for a week and there were no lessons plans so we did some art each day. The students loved it.

My abstract art changes as I learn. I have been drawing for 50+ years.

I’m looking forward to sharing what I’ve learned with you!
